Lorna presenting Mark Low with “The Kieran Mess Memorial Trophy” Yesterday we had the great pleasure of presenting a worthy winner, Mark Low with “The Kieran Mess Memorial Trophy” for Playground Citizen of the Year.This is an annual presentation to a pupil that portrays everything that Kieran did, willingness to help others, kindness,caring and all in all a good person.The teachers and janitor pick a pupil that shows these outstanding atributes throughout the year and this year the worthy winner was MARK LOW.Well done Mark and Good Luck at Greenwood.

We attended the annual prize giving ceremony at Kieran’s old School “Lawthorn Primary School” yesteday.As well as presenting Mark Low the worthy winner of the Kieran Mess Memorial Trophy for Playground Citizen of the year we were delighted to accept a cheque for £980.80 raised by the children thoughout the year.Each year the Pupil Council decide on Fundraising events to help the Foundation.We are delighted and grateful of the continued support Lawthorn Primary School provide to the Foundation.
Sharon Gow recently completed a KILOMARATHON 16.3 miles of hard slog, raising a fantastic £231.00 for the Foundation. Well done Sharon !! here’s to the Loch Ness Marathon later in the year.
One of the newcomers to the Kieran Mess Foundation Golf Outing ,Kris Devlin,after hearing what we have done and are commited to doing Kris decided that he would like to help the Foundation!! What better way than straight in at the deep end – The 2011 VIRGIN ACTIVE LONDON TRIATHLON. This will be a great event with athletes participating from all over the country.What better way to get the Foundation the profile it deserves. Kris is aiming high, he wants to raise as much for the Foundation as he can( 5k was mentioned) so come on!!! lets get behind him all the way. The Dunblane 2011 Golfers A fantastic day was had by all on Friday, weather held up apart from some showers but this didn’t dampen the day.Some fantastic prizes / trophy’s were on offer and a huge thank you goes out to all who donated the raffle prizes. We welcomed some new faces this year and thanks to all the regulars who came back for another year, the feedback from the newcomers was a great day was had and they are already looking forward to next year. The overall winner of the 2011 Kieran Mess Memorial Trophy – Derek Coulter, winning the coveted trophy for the second time in 4 years ( Big Man when are you turning Pro) 2nd Jim McGuffy (1st Year) 3rd Arthur Walsh (1st Year also) 4th John Hale Derek Coulter- Winner Dunblane 2011 A huge thank you to Jim Murray for once again organising the event, Stephen Logan, for arranging the course, Dunblane New Golf Club,the Commitee and Captain for allowing the Foundation to come back for another year, the Caterers and Bar Staff , and most of all you guys, the golfers, for raising a fantastic sum of £1200.00 after all overheads have been taken care of. Here’s to Next Year.
How time passes!! It’s that time again and we are delighted to have secured another year at the fantastic Dunblane New Golf Club. . Many thanks to Sephen Logan and the commitee of DNGC for allowing us the use.You all must have behaved last year so thanks to all. This years event takes place on FRIDAY 20th May 2011 and has the same format as the previous years. Breakfast Roll & Coffee, 18holes on the Fantastic Course, Prize giving with a FREE Raffle, and a 2 course High Tea for only £50.00 per person. If anyone wishes to take part in this established fantastic day out, please get back to me ASAP with you name and handicap.Numbers are limited so don’t delay.
The Carolside Mums and Kids with The Fantastic Donation Yesterday we were delighted to be presented with a Fantastic sum of £5844.86 raised at the recent Ingus Woman’s 10k by the Carolside and Busby Mums, along with their family and friends.This is a truely fantastic sum of money and greatly appriciated by the Foundation. Many Thanks again Ladies and plently of time to train for next year !!
On Friday 25th June I will once again attend the end of term awards ceremony at Lawthorn Primary.This is the primary school that Kieran attended in his short life.When Kieran passed away we decided to donate a Trophy to the school, to be awarded to the child who show’s outstanding care and support to other children. The school decided to call the award “The Kieran Mess Playground Citizen Award” It is always a pleasure to present this award to the child who has been voted the Best Playground Citizen.
